16 JANUARY 1945
First Lieutenant Harold W. Strub, pilot of "Playmate Four One", departed Morotai at 0536 reaching orbit point off the Northwest coast of Negros at 1100. There he sighted mirror flashes from the beach near Linson on the West coast of Negros. He landed and effected the rescue of Staff Sergeant Max C. Aumsberger, crew member of a B-24 which had gone down North of Negros on 8 November 1944. The survivor was in good condition and was a member of the 424th Bomb Squadron, 307th Bomb Group. Lieutenant Strub took off at 1150 and arrived at Morotai at 1650 and discharged the survivor to a waiting ambulance.
