The crew of Bob Rohlfing shortly before they were
sent overseas - Sacramento, California - 1944. (Standing L to R)
2nd Lt. Walter
H. Boggs, Navigator - 2nd Lt.
Bob
Rohlfing, Pilot - 2nd Lt. Hugh Pennington, Pilot (Note: Lieutenant Boggs died
in New Guinea [headstone] from a fungal infection
- "tropical fever" that the men callded the "Crud." It's
similar to athlete's foot but much more severe in a jungle environment.
There is no official record in the history of his death in the squadron
history.)
