First Lieutenant Frank Rauschkolb (Left) marches into
position on 18 September 1945 at Keesler Field, Mississippi where he will be awarded the
Distinguished Service Cross by Colonel
T.S. Voss for a mission on 04
March 1945 where they rescued 17 men from three (3) different B-25's.
His crew was also decorated earlier in the year in theater. One turned out to be a R.D. Johnson...the Professor on Gilligan's Island.
The others are: (L to R) S/Sgt Chester L. Bolender, who was awarded the
Distinguished Flying Cross; M/Sgt Emmary W. Jones, awarded the Bronze Star
Medal; and S/Sgt Richard E. Parrott, awarded the Air Medal.
