Close to the sun and the overcast sky
Sailing along was the proud PBY
Into the thunderhead and now out of the blue
The Angel of Mercy is still coming through
Laugh if
you will at how slowly she flies
Jest if you must as she takes to the sky,
But there's work up ahead - she knows what to do
The Angel of Mercy is still coming through
A bomber's
forced down to a watery grave
There are men to be rescued, men to be saved
They sit there and wait, that's all they can do
Oh, the Angel of Mercy you've got to come through
Either ack ack below or or flak overhead
Where sinners won't trod the angels must tread
The skies overcast, the storm seems to brew
But the Angel of Mercy is still coming through
The men on
the raft proudly await
Were those motors they heard, or just a mistake!
NO - out of the thunderhead and into the blue
The Angel of Mercy once more must come through
The rescue she makes and takes to the sky
The queen of the air, that proud PBY
The ground crew smiles, their ships flying through
Their Angel of Mercy once more has come through
