Sergeant
Guy Hillman Allbright Jr., (1921-2003), was
born in Dallas, Texas on December 19, 1922 to Guy H. and Katholine Jones Allbright. When
he was 10 years old, he and his family moved to Ridgeway, Virginia. Upon graduation from
Ridgeway High School in 1941, he worked for the U. S. District Engineers as a concrete and
steel inspector on the construction of the Pentagon.

DRAFT CARD) He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in
May 1942 and was assigned to the Nashville Army Air Classification Center in Nashville,
Tennessee and performed duties as the First Sergeant for 400 men.
Sergeant Allbright was then assigned to the Second Emergency Rescue Squadron in
December 1943 and prepared to be deployed to join the Pacific campaign. While with the 2nd
Emergency, he performed duties as an Admininstration Clerk, and helped with courier
missions picking up supplies on other islands. When the war ended, he returned Stateside
in December 1945.
After returning to civlilian life, Mr. Allbright once again worked for the U.S.
District Engineers in 1946 and 1947. He met and married Marjorie Blackstone in 1947 and
they have one son, Barry. Also in 1947 Guy was trained as an optician and worked for the
same Optometrist for 44 years.
He was very active with the Second Emergency Rescue Squadron reunions and gathering
information about the Squadron. He collected many photos and secured information from the
United States Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio as well as Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
Guy fought cancer for the last few years and it finally claimed his life on August 6,
2003.
